Platform Engineer

Responsibilities
* Develop new Platform services and features to meet the evolving needs of the GROUPS platform. * Develop new Platform services and features to meet the evolving needs of third-party developers building widgets and applications on the Platform. * Develop the core building blocks of Internet-scale infrastructure as productized frameworks and services. These building blocks should make it easy for other developers at GROU.PS to do the right thing for scalability, performance, and manageability while focusing on their domain-specific challenges. * Develop and support a Hadoop-based large-scale data processing infrastructure as a service for business and technical stakeholders across the company. * Work closely with the operations and availability teams to deliver a world-class platform measured in capability, availability, and performance.Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field. * At least 4 years software engineering experience designing and developing modern web-based server solutions in rapid development cycles. * Demonstrated experience building Internet-scale distributed server systems and delivering them into a 24×7, high-availability production environment. * Expert in PHP (and preferably C (Zend API)) development and debugging. Expert in MySQL and Memcache. Expert in Smarty Template Engine. Experience in large-scale data processing is a big plus. * Expert in Internet protocols and technologies including HTTP, SSL, DNS, TCP/IP, XML, JSON, and RSS. * Solid understanding and practical experience in Object Oriented Design & Programming, Design Patterns, Software Development life cycle process and procedures. * Curiosity.
